Some Random Thoughts

Just some things that may be interesting:
-Brits drive on the left side of the road and the steering wheels on the right side of the car
-When brits say been it sounds like bean... I make fun of them for it becuase they make fun of me saying can't
-The plugs here are enormous compared to ours.
-Some phrases that are said a lot here: -lush, meaning cool. -loads, used to say "a lot" but used excessivily. -hoover, a vaccum cleaner. -chav, a slang name for the goth teenage bums that sit around uselessly in Llantwit Major. -fair enough, the meaning is pretty obvious but they say it all the time. -trousers, NOT pants. -pants, underwear... don't get that confused!. -wellies, rubber boots. -plaster, a bandaid. -jumper, a hoodie. -swimming costume, a swimsuit. -washing powder, detergent.
-The people who are still picking up on English here are all learning it with a British accent but say "like" as much as any American.
-The laundry machines cost 1.20 pounds and do a reeeeallly crap job.
-They do have tortillas and guacamole here! but its not great.
-something like "da bronuts" is Czech for "goodnight"

Great new additions. Many humorous things between peoples that are worth giggling about. Ask someone about cockney? Are they too young to know any? At first, Eliza only spoke cockney in My Fair Lady. Right? Later, Dad ....
Hey Malia, it's fun to keep up on your life. Thanks for keeping the news coming. Especially the pictures. Being in another country for an extended period of time is an awesome experience. I'm glad you are getting to do it. In college I worked in the theater behind the scenes and in the box office for four years. For me it was nice to be around the crazy theater people and yet not be one myself. Hope you enjoy it too. Shari, Eva, Chama and I are happy in California. Shari found some green chiles at the farmers' market, roasted them and made our homemade version of Mante's Trujillo burritos as well as some green chile to remind us of Taos. It was like heaven on earth, so I can really relate to what you're feeling. Have fun over there.
Ben
