Slowing down

With less than a month left everyone here is starting to wind down. Last night was creepily quiet even though it was a Friday and there normally would have been loud and energized activity everywhere. I think everyone is feeling a mixture of extreme tiredness (the type no length of sleep can really cure), solemn seriousness at the oncoming exams, and as much anxiety for the term to be over as sadness at the thought of leaving. People talk a lot lately about the cruel side of this place. They pull us together from every culture and background into one small campus, force us to become the best of friends, give us experiences that allow us to build unbreakable relationships... then tear us apart throwing us out all over the world. It's not at all the same as seniors leaving Taos High back home. There you know you'll always see these people during the summer or at somepoint in the next year or two. Here people you see every day for two years may never be seen again, ever. The world is too big just as here it is too small.

Enjoy those special people while you are together, and remember, the world is just not as big as it used to be! Who knows where you all may meet again! (Besides, we are all spoiled with blogs, email, etc!)luv ya - elaine
