The British

You know how only some bathrooms in the US have electric hand dryers? Well, here every "loo" is equipped with the environmentally friendly hand dryers instead of the standard paper towels we get in the US. And they use them. In the US I think people are too impatient to use the electric dryers. Here people patiently stand there until their hands are dry. Americans move too fast sometimes I think. Sometimes I'll say or do something without thinking and my friends here look at me and laugh. "That was so American!" is a common phrase I hear. I laugh with them. It's true.
Napkins too. They don't believe in them here. I have to make a point of asking for a napkin if I feel I need one. I think it's cause the the British are such neat eaters. They hold their knifes in their right hands and use it to pile their food onto the back of their fork in nice tidy bites. No napkins needed. Saves trees, right?

Ha! You American. When you come back, you'll have to teach us to eat properly. I'm sure some Britons think we eat like cave people. Of course, some probably think we do everything like cave people. Oh, well. Next time someone tells you how American you are, you should bust out with a Southern accent, using words such as "ya'll, fixin', and howdy". I don't know, maybe it wouldn't be that funny, but I'd think it was. I hope you feel better, and Happy Thanksgiving!

love,
Traci
